Shadow

Shadow

You lurk,

quiet and unseen.

With deadly precision you strike,

family friends and mutual acquaintances.

You wait,

patient and eager.

With unshakable determination you bait,

hoping to hook me with sweet words.

You hold on to what is already lost.

With the cold grip of metal cuffs,

and you drag me down.

Back to a time and place,

dark and dismal,

my own personal Hell.
