Arc of Selene

Arc of Selene

The pale moon gazes cold and stark

from its ancient arc in the winter sky,

half-blinded by light of sun,

half aware of matters unfolding

beneath its unhinged watch.

Time ticking past in silver units,

cycles of beauty and wonder,

awing earth, its native hearts.

Enchanting still, its radiant dance

through the star-spangled heavens—

fading with the purple sparks of dawn.
