Out of the Burrows

 Out of the Burrows

The moment a shy spring sun

peeks through the clouds,

they appear, out of the burrows

I suddenly see them everywhere

Sitting on benches observing others,

walking their little lapdogs in the park,

strolling through public Gardens,

chatting over a cuppa at the teahouse

It seems they defrost

the moment the temperature rises,

an awakening from their hibernation

Finally, an escape

from winter's imprisonment

A legion of cheerful elderly

has occupied the streets

And I love it, I love to see

them flourish again

I know, when the old folks

come to life, it's time to

get out of my burrow as well
