Blood in the Water

Blood in the Water

There aren’t enough letters

in this language

with which to fashion

the spark of fire

that I’ve been burning

to breathe of late,

but I don’t know

a single thing

about creating hieroglyphics

so I might as well

keep slapping these words

together

to see what shapes

take form.

Dreams die every day

from the first moment

in the morning

when you open your eyes

as visions begin to fade,

but true purpose and passion

come heaven sent

without an expiration date.

It is important

to shed a little blood

at certain times

and let it spill

along the path

to see what sort

of images

start emerging

from the shadows

and beaming

from the sun.

There are wolves and vampires

that lie in wait

for a taste of your neck

on their fangs.

There are sharks

in the sea

that go crazy

for the scent

of your flesh.

Keep all senses alerted

and leave their appetites

in wanting.

There are nurses and doctors

and shamans and healers

that roam this earth

with the light of love

emanating from peaceful hearts

as a remedy

for all that ails us.

Let such as these

play a pivotal role

in all life’s scenes.

Let the story grow simple.

Let the needle be thin.

Let the focus stay pure.

Let the true faith ascend.

There is just enough.

There is always enough.

There is more than enough

for us all.
