Lull

Lull

Grandma and I sit on the porch swing,

the rumble of thunder around us.

The sky over the hills flashes with lightning.

The air is heavy with rain.

Fat drops come from the clouds.

Puffs of dust rise from the road.

Her foot pushes against the porch floor.

I love summer storms, she says.

We swing.
